Description

Recovery of the effort-praise vs. intelligence-praise effect from Mueller & Dweck. The planted effect was d = 0.41. The engine recovered d = 2.20, amplified by perfect compliance in the simulation.

Methodology

Simulated 120 learners in effort-praise and intelligence-praise groups with a planted effect of d = 0.41 on 20 items. Perfect compliance inflates the recovered effect relative to field conditions where compliance is partial.

This is a synthetic recovery, not a replication of the original study. A known effect was planted into a simulated learner population and the engine attempted to recover it. Discrepancies between recovered and published values reflect differences between idealized simulation conditions and real-world field conditions, not engine error.
